About The Work Theory

An independent publication on how work is being rebuilt.

The Work Theory is an independent publication covering the transformation of work — artificial intelligence, organisational design, HR technology, and the systems through which modern teams operate. We write about what is changing, what is being sold as changing, and how to tell the difference.

Our pieces fall into four formats. Decoded takes a single news item, report or product launch and explains what it actually means. Theory is long-form opinion grounded in observation, not speculation. Brief is short and pointed — a single argument, delivered fast. Teardown dismantles a specific product, framework or claim, piece by piece.

What we cover

Four pillars structure our work: The Machine (AI and automation in the workplace), The Org (structures and roles), The Stack (HR tech and tooling) and The Future (where work is heading, past the slideware).

Editorial stance

We write under a collective byline. Our work is independent: we accept no sponsored placements, no paid coverage and no "thought leadership" trades. If an idea is interesting we say so; if it is not, we say that instead.
